Members of the poker community were shocked when a few known high-stakes players were named in an indictment out of New York City targeting Russian organized crime organizations with powerful bosses. Thirty-four people were indicted Tuesday. The defendants range from high-ranking Russian mobsters from two organizations to a Manhattan art dealer to sports bettors and poker players. Maximum penalties vary wildly, too, from 10 years to 90 years in prison, the potential result of what some describe as the “biggest pinch ever.”
